@Christine: Thanks for your suggestions. Each admin chooses posts a little differently. I usually defer my choices to experienced GU! members by watching which posts are the most popular and have the most genuine likes (we have simple detection heuristics to fish out likes from fake, spammy accts). It's not foolproof but we try out best (as noted up we miss some very good posts)
The best way to gain our notice is to write useful and original posts that lots of members love.

In the better late than never department, we thank Missy Wayne for bringing to our attention Peggy George's very original post: what type of farmer are you? I am sure FarmVille players here can identify with at least one type of Farmer!
Since there are so many posts on GU!, it's easy to overlook novel ones like this. We encourage other members to suggest, vote up and like posts you found helpful or plain funny. This is also why we look into the past 2 weeks of posts, even though we give awards every week :) Here are some others that caught my attention:
